Speakers at the Highly Anticipated Second Edition of the New "Must Attend" Gulf Coast Series will Combine Star Power and Expertise
(Mobile, AL) – September 18, 2007 – With a little under two weeks to go until the second edition of the Greg Gate$ Music Conference, anticipation for the event is at a fever pitch. This week, founder and organizer Greg "Gate$" Davenport announced a list of confirmed panelist who will be on hand in Mobile, AL on September 28, 2007 to share their expertise and industry experience with attendees coming from across the country. Comprised of established music industry professionals from various fields, the list of panel speakers includes Rap Coalition founder Wendy Day, Atlantic Records A&R Sickamore, Carolina Mixtape King DJ Chuck T, Publicist and AllHipHop.com Editor-At-Large Dove, SRC/Universal Recording Artist Granddaddy Souf, and Southern Entertainment Awards Co-Founder Janiro Hawkins.
Also included among the panelists will be Wes Philips of Select-O-Hits Distribution, Slip-N-Slide Records A&R Otha Davis, Anthony "Big Amp" Parker of Earthwake Entertainment, Capitol Connections Booking Agent Durby, Trill Entertainment A&R and Producer Shontae, and Music Industry Connection author Jawar. Each of the two panels of the evening will center around the conference's theme: Hip-Hop Ya Don't Stop – Navigating the New Music Industry. The Greg Gate$ Music Conference, Vol. 2 will serve as not only an opportunity for attendees to learn about the music business from some of the most influential names in the game, but also as a chance for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talents to hundreds of industry tastemakers, DJs and Radio personalities. The inaugural Conference, which took place in March 2007, is responsible for breaking both Polo Grounds/ Recording Artist Hurricane Chris's smash hit "Ay Bay Bay" and CTE/Def Jam super group U.S.D.A.'s street banger "Check."
While the current landscape may seem overrun with music conferences and networking events, The Greg Gate$ Music Conference stands out by creating an intimate setting which fosters the sharing of knowledge. "Regardless of how big the event has become it still has that personal touch to it," explains Davenport. "Everybody is more accessible at this event than at other events. It's understood that when you come to one of my events you're here to help and offer advice. So you don't have to worry about label executives and artists running to the VIP area or leaving right after they're done with their bit."
As it continues to occur, the semi-annual Greg Gate$ Music Conference also serves an underlying purpose: "We're excited to have another opportunity to invite the world to see what the Gulf Coast has to offer," says Davenport. "And that's why the conference will continue to move across the Gulf Coast: to allow all major cities within this market to get some exposure." Volume One of the conference took place in Pensacola, FL, drawing over 900 attendees and receiving media coverage from national (Down Magazine, Ozone, The Source) and regional (Get' Em Magazine, Hood Magazine) alike.
The Greg Gate$ Music Conference will take place Friday, September 28 at Club Miami, located at 3716 Airport Blvd. in Mobile, AL. Though online registration is now closed, attendees can register on site. Registration for all Media and DJs is free, with credential verification.
