Phoenix, AZ (September 28, 2007)—Rawkus 50 artist Atllas collaborates with Smash Squad DJ Statik Selektah on his new mixtape I’m Hood Famous: The Maryvale Story. "Hood Famous" the song immediately became a traditional street anthem and movement in Arizona. It became a standard of living that people can relate to worldwide. Atllas knew it was time to extend his message to everywhere, so listeners worldwide can take a sneak peak into the lifestyle of an emcee from the streets of Arizona. That’s when he decided to make the mixtape out of the "Hood Famous" movement.
"Being Hood Famous is about recognizing that just because you’re not
on TV doesn’t mean you’re not a star. It’s about no matter where you are in life, if you do what you do well you will be recognized. We all have star potential…. even if you are just well known in your neighborhood. If you work a 9 to 5 and you stack your chips and throw some 24′s on your car, if you always make sure you have a fresh pair of white on white’s or your getting popping on your block…That’s being Hood Famous…..That is the movement," Atllas described.

He is well-known for his appearance as a Rap Coach on MTV’s hit show Made, as well as his acclaimed independent releases in Arizona.
