Proprietary ClubLync System Uses Real-Time, High-Resolution Content
Feb., 5, 2007- On a panel called "Concerts of the Future, the Evolving
Live Music Landscape" at Music 2.0 in Las Angeles last week,
(http://www.ihollywoodforum.com/schedule-agendamusic20_2007.htm),
veteran concert promoter Michael Horne launched the Virtual Venues Network
(http://www.virtualvenuesnetwork.com), introducing a new media
distribution platform that could prove to be one of the most lucrative content
delivery models to enter the market this year.
With the installation of a proprietary, rack-mounted set top box called
the ClubLyncTM, nightclubs, theatres and college dining halls can
project high-resolution content onto local stages and charge an admission at
the door. The Virtual Venues Network licenses each venue directly with
the artist or IP holder and grants a single play authority to each of
the subscriber venues with both the artist and presenter sharing in the
gross box office receipts. The program captures ASCAP, BMI, SESAC &
Harry Fox royalties and when its over, the artist retains the intellectual
property. A list of the participating venues and artists is due to be
announced March 30, 2007.
"We’ve uncovered a much needed new revenue stream in the concert
space", says CEO and Founder Michael Horne, "blending the traditional live
touring model with the pay-per-view application proven in sports bars
around the country The venue promotes each event as though it were a live
in-house concert and charges a cover at the door. They keep half the
gate and fill the house, with almost no risk. For the cost of a projector
and screen (available as a lease) they can join the Virtual Venues
Network, and we’ll install the ClubLyncTM, enabling the legal ability to
monetize the content, one time, like a live show. The audience reaction
during our pilot has been super. The broadcasts are life size and high
resolution, the sound is great and delivered directly to the house sound
system and since these shows are not available to the home or mobile
consumer in any other format, a ticket is the only way in, plus, for
eight bucks you’re home by midnight!"
Patrick Reilly, President – Intellectual Property Society
(http://www.ipsociety.net) said, "This is a bold and exciting
entertainment channel that introduces artists to brand new audiences around the
world without compromising their intellectual property rights along the
way!"
Artists are embracing the audience-direct component because after
granting a single play authority to each venue in the network, the
intellectual property reverts to them. By placing the event on the network, the
artist can have a presence in new, smaller markets while participating
in the revenue generated from every ticket sold at each venue. There is
also a "social good" component that is resonating with artists in that
each on-line ticket sale generates a service charge that is donated to
a charitable organization, via a pull-down menu of artist
recommendations at the consumer point of purchase.
Virtual Venues Network is currently enrolling new artists and select
venues prior to the release of the summer programming schedule, due March
30th of this year. Visit http://www.virtualvenuesnetwork.com for more
