The Shakur Family postpones trip to South Africa until 2007
For personal reasons, Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, has postponed the family's proposed trip to South Africa, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death. The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation will continue with its plans in Atlanta to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Tupac’s death by inviting the public to the Peace Garden on Saturday, September 9th at 1:00pm. Afeni Shakur and the staff of the Center are asking everyone to bring a plant in memory of a loved one to place in the Peace Garden. If people cannot attend, the Center asks that a plant be laid in their personal garden in memory of not only, their loved ones, but for all fallen heroes. A celebration and drum ceremony will follow the garden event.
The trip to South Africa will now take place on June 16, 2007. The date coincides with the anniversary of the Soweto uprising as well as Tupac’s 36th birthday. Mrs. Shakur has always been a supporter for Civil Rights and rescheduling the ceremony on this day characterizes her son’s legacy as he shares the day he came into the world with such a powerful political and social movement. “My family and I regret that they must postpone the trip to South Africa to a later date, due to personal reasons,” says Ms. Shakur. “We understand the work and time that everyone has put into making this trip possible but the work of helping the children and sick of South Africa must continue. We will still be sending aid and relief to those organizations and groups that we have established relationships with including the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Over the next couple of months, we want to spend time strengthening those ties. The invitation for the two students to come over to the Tupac Shakur Center on an exchange remains open and we intend to see it to fruition.”
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation was formed to bring a quality arts program to our young people by providing a positive and healthy foundation for them to build and grow upon. To date over 500 students have benefited from the program with a broad range of training available via the Annual Performing Arts Camp. Students are able to study creative writing, vocal technique, acting, stage set design, dance, poetry and spoken word. The Foundation has also hosted Essay competitions throughout the U.S., charity Golf Tournaments and awarded scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate degrees.

On Friday, September 8th two of the hottest entities in popular music join forces on Fashion Rocks concert in NYC this week when Jibbs performs with the Pussycat Dolls. Jibbs, whose single "Chain Hang Low" is screaming up the charts (currently the #5 song on the iTunes chart), will join PCD for what is sure to be a rousing rendition of their megahit "Buttons." Show airs at 9PM EST on CBS (check your local listings to confirm airtime).

WHO IS JIBBS?
Jibbs knew he had to do something to get the attention of his older brother, (DJ Beats from the production team Da Beatstaz {DJ Beats & Reese Beats}). So the then 8-year-old wrote a rap and performed it for his brother, who was gaining fame in St. Louis producing for such hip-hop stars as Nelly and Chingy. Floored by Jibbs’ flow, DJ Beats started having his pre-teen brother join him in the studio. Jibbs’ jaw-dropping freestyles earned him a rep as a premier rapper in the St. Louis underground.
“I was murdering 21-year-olds, 25-year-olds when I was 11 and 12,” Jibbs recalls with a laugh. “That’s how people knew me in the hood. They’d be like, ‘You’re so young, but you whupped him -- and he’s supposed to be good.’”
Once Jibbs’ demo started circulating among music industry insiders, the calls came. He was courted by several labels and started opening up for such superstars as Chris Brown, Bow Wow and Young Jeezy when they performed in the Lou. The impact was profound. “It motivated me even more when I saw that people really liked my music,” says Jibbs, whose music has the catchiness of Nelly and the lyrical acumen of T.I. “I got a better response than I thought I would.”
Now signed to IGA’s Geffen Records (home to Snoop Dogg, Slim Thug, Common, Pharrell, Mos Def, Mary J. Blige) and riding the success of his new single “Chain Hang Low”, the teen rapper is set to change the game with the release of his dynamic debut album, Jibbs feat. Jibbs. He came up with the title as a nod to his musical diversity. “Every song on the album doesn’t sound the same,” he explains. “That’s where the title Jibbs feat. Jibbs came from. No songs sound the same, but you’ll always know it’s me.”
With a sing-along chorus, clever braggadocio and a block-rocking beat, “Chain Hang Low” has become a street favorite. “Smile,” a percolating collaboration with Fabo of D4L, introduces new dances to the world, while “Hood” showcases Jibbs’ introspective side. Here, he challenges people to think before they do something that could lead to trouble.
Fortunately, Jibbs had the benefit of a strong family unit, one where his parents and all six of their children worked hard to constantly improve themselves and their surroundings - - making the family a success story in its own right. Indeed, Jibbs has two significant outlets to help steer him away from the traps that lure many ghetto youth into dead-end lives. His parents and older brothers were into music, and he and his three brothers were all boxers. In fact, Jibbs was such a good boxer that he became a two-time Golden Glove Champion, a remarkable accomplishment in the competitive boxing world. Despite his success in the ring, Jibbs was driven to be a rapper. “Music inspires me more,” he says. “I feel that I’m better at music. I was real good at boxing, but I feel music is where my heart is. I love it so much that nothing can stop me from doing it.”
Now, with the remarkably engaging Jibbs feat. Jibbs, set for release in September 2006, the teen rapper is ready to establish himself as a trendsetting artist. “I want to bring some new flavor to the game as a youngster in the business,” he says. “I want to change it up a little bit. I also want to show teenagers that they can make it, just like I did. I came from the hood just like they did and I made it better.”

Born in Buffalo , NY in 1980, Emiles love for Hiphop started at a very early age, as he was already selling pause tapes in Junior High School; an endeavor that proved so successful he was able to parlay those sales into the purchase of his first pair of turntables.
After some run-ins with the law as a youth and a subsequent house arrest sentence, Emile found himself locked indoors, which only further harnessed his turntable skills. By 1997, Emile was a known entity in Buffalo and after his friend lent him his sampler he had found where his true passion resided---producing. In 1998, Emile decided to leave Buffalo and headed for the bright lights of NYC to pursue his dream. Emile found a job selling sneakers by day and by night you could find him creating beats and searching for emcees to bless them.
Two short years later, Emile sold his first beat to Rodney Jerkins (who has produced for Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Destinys Child, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, Alicia Keys, Fantasia, Jadakiss, TLC etc) and though the track never came out, Emile quit his day job and focused 100% of his time and effort on beatmaking. In 2001, Emile connected with Eminem protg Obie Trice and contributed two tracks to Obies platinum debut, Cheers, including the LPs third-single, Dont Come Down,? which he co-produced with Eminem. Emiles work with Obie caught the ear of none other then Proof and the two collaborated on two tracks for Proofs solo-debut Searching For Jerry Garcia. Emile fondly recalls working with Proof: If anyone were to ask me which record I produced is the most important to me, the answer comes easy. Kurt Kobain? by my good friend Proof. I get chills every time I listen to it. Its his goodbye letter to the world, in the form of a song. Anybody who listens to the song can tell how deep it is; and how ill it is that its the last song on his album.
From 2002-2005 Emile stayed on his grind as his reputation grew bigger, as he worked with a virtual whos who list of artists; including contributing two-tracks to M.O.P.s now shelved Roc-A-Fella debut, Ghetto Warfare, Terror Squads Gold Album, True Story, Ghosfaces Pretty Toney LP, Raekwons Lex Diamonds Story, three tracks on Cormegas 2004 LP True Meaning and three tracks from his 2005 LP Legal Hustle, Everlasts White Trash Beautiful and contributed the official NY street anthem of 2005 on AZs A.W.O.L. with New York featuring Ghostface, Raekwon and DJ Premier. While Emiles credits thru 2005 were glowing, in 2006 he promises to ascend further up the Hiphop production ranks and become a household name!
Every producer has a track that they can go back to in their past, which for them served as there respective Break-Out production: for Emile, Obie Trices They Wanna Know from Obies sophomore solo-LP, Second Rounds On Me certainly looks like the track Emile will look back on five years from now and realize was just that; its already served as the theme song for the 3rd season of HBOs wildly successful show Entourage and is being widely hailed as one of the best tracks to emerge from 2006. In addition, Emile has already completed tracks for a diverse range of artists for projects that have already dropped or are slated to appear this year; including Snoop Doggs The Blue Carpet Treatment, the bonus track (Pity The Child?) on The Roots Game Theory, two tracks on Ice Cubes almost Gold Laugh Now, Cry Later LP, two tracks (including the standout Bullet And A Target f/Citizen Cope & Jon Brion) on Rhymefests Blue Collar, Remy Mas Theres Something About Remy, two tracks on Kay Slays The Champions and Funk Flexs The Car Show. Emile even has tracks completed for a slew of releases that will appear in 2007; including three tracks from the solo-debut of Jurassic 5s Chali 2NA, Aasim, Jae Millz, Papoose and new Interscope artist Lanz.
Though Emile has already made a name for himself in the production ranks, he realizes the importance of being a savvy businessman as well, as he recently opened his own brand spanking new recording studio in SOHO , where he plans to station himself out of.

The Con Man is back up in the building and all the fans of G.O.O.D. music need to pay attention. For those who don't know, Consequence earned his hip-hop stripes back in 1993 alongside hip-hop super group A Tribe Called Quest. Cons made his rap debut on one of hip-hop's most cherished albums: Midnight Marauders, the 3rd album from Ali Shaheed, Phife Dawg, and Cons' cousin Q-Tip.
The Queens , NY native made his real splash, however, when he touched up the Tribe's platinum Beats, Rhymes & Life for seven tracks, including the backpacker classic "Phony Rappers" and the hit "Stressed Out" with Faith Evans.
Consequence was as close to a fourth member as ATCQ could ever have, but in 2004, he found himself in the company of a second family: G.O.O.D. Music, the record label of Kanye West. Soon after he appeared on another hip-hop classic, Kanye's debut College Dropout, as Cons appeared on the huge hit "Spaceship."
With the extended G.O.O.D. (Getting Out Our Dreams) family in his corner, Consequence's stock is higher than ever. Awaiting the release of his G.O.O.D. debut Don't Quit Your Day Job (due out later in 2006), Consequence scratches his itch and teams up with Clinton Sparks and the G.O.O.D. Music Family and returns to the mixtape scene with the 4th edition of The Cons, his acclaimed undergound mixtape series, entitled Finish What You Started
Representing Cons' journey from ATCQ fame to underground mixtape fame to a major label album release and world tour, "Finish What You Started" is a celebration of Cons' efforts in the rap game.
MixUnit.coms very own Clinton Sparks has a g.o.o.d. connection with the G.O.O.D. family, having already done two mixtapes with Kanye West (Touch The Sky and Smashtime Radio, vol. 1), DJ'ed for G.O.O.D.'s Grammy party, and setting up Mix Unit Collabos with G.O.O.D. affiliates like GLC and Rhymefest. So when it came time for G.O.O.D. to drop the official mixtape before his anticipated album, recruiting Clinton Sparks was a no-brainer!
The Cons, Vol. 4 mixtape features more than 20 new and exclusive tracks/freestyles from Consequence, including key cameos from G.O.O.D.'s Kanye West, GLC, Mary J Blige, Bathgate, Sa-Ra and new production from Clinton Sparks on two exclusive tracks.
Finishing what he started, Consequence, G.O.O.D. Music and Clinton Sparks team up with MixUnit.com to bring you this official Mix Unit Artist Series edition mixtape.

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Global creative and brand- engineering agency ATTIK ( http://www.attik.com/ ) today announced their role in designing and launching the website http://www.hypewilliams.com/ in time for the renowned director himself, Hype Williams, to be honored with the Video Vanguard Award at last night's MTV Video Music Awards. At the height of the star-studded, Aug. 31 live event held at New York's Radio City Music Hall, millions of simultaneous MTV and MTV.com viewers watched as Missy Elliott, Kanye West and Busta Rhymes presented Williams with the prestigious award.
In anticipation of the honor, just weeks before the event, Williams had renewed his past working relationship with ATTIK, to have the company design and launch his official website, complete with 100 of his own photographs, and 50 digitally remastered versions of his most famous music videos.
"Back in 2000, I was invited by fashion designer Julien Macdonald to produce his 'Modern Skins' show at the Millennium Dome on the final evening of London Fashion Week," Williams explained. "I hired ATTIK for that project, to create an artistic, high-tech backdrop for the show, and I felt that their work was truly phenomenal. So, when I learned that I might be up for this award, I got them back onboard to get the site up and going. I gave them a lot of input on what I wanted, and not a lot of time to get it done, but as I expected, they came through in style.
Along with design director Stan Zienka, ATTIK's project team consisted of junior designer Ryan Lee and project manager Oliver Ralph. Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, the designers adapted the look and feel of the company's past 'Modern Skins' artwork for the new site. The assignment also involved recompressing the music videos and optimizing them for streaming, as well as establishing the most robust hosting platform available, which was secured through Pier One Management, to ensure that the site can handle maximum traffic for its several gigabytes'-worth of spectacular contents.
"Hype had requested a minimal and predominantly white aesthetic for the website design," Zienka said. "It was something that we felt would be simple and allow the user to get to the vast quantity of Hype's work easily. The background textures were reminiscent of the past video project we had done with Hype; a combination of in-camera light experiments and digital compositions."
The new site's traffic exceeded nearly 20,000 hits in the first 24 hours after Williams received his award, which is remarkable in that the site was not yet registered in search engines.
Since 1994, Williams has directed over 200 music videos for the world's top recording artists, including Aaliyah, DMX, Kanye West, Nas, No Doubt, Outkast, and many, many others. Past Video Vanguard recipients include David Bowie, Madonna, U2 and Michael Jackson.
Other awards for Williams' work in the music video field include the Billboard Music Video Award for Best Director of the Year (1996), the Jackson Limo Award for Best Rap Video of the Year (1996) for Busta Rhymes' "Woo Hah," the NAACP Image Award (1997), MTV Video Music Award in the Best Rap Video (1998) category for Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It," MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video (1999) for TLC's "No Scrubs," MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video (2006) for Beyonce's "Check Up On It," and the BET Award for Best Director (2006) for Kanye West's "Gold Digger." He made his feature film directorial debut in 1998 with "Belly," which has since gained a huge cult following, and he has also directed remarkable commercial campaigns for leading global brands, including Nike, MasterCard, Revlon, Fubu, Toyota, Verizon, Reebok, The Gap, and Dolce & Gabbana. Debut single "Smack That" Features Superstar Rapper Eminem
(New York, NY) SRC/Universal artist and world-wide phenomenon Akon is readying his much anticipated follow-up to his multi-platinum epic smash CD Trouble. The new disc titled Konvicted is scheduled to hit stores on November 21. The first single, “Smack That,” from the album, features none other than hip hop icon, Eminem. The video for the new song, considered by many to be one of the hottest releases of the fall, is helmed by revered video director Benny Boom. Other guests on the new album include Snoop Dogg and Styles P.
Akon scored unprecedented success in 2005 both here and abroad, with his multi-format smash hit single “Lonely,” and its predecessor “Locked Up,” becoming sizzling staples of urban, pop, digital and international radio formats across the globe.“Lonely” hovered at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart for 3 months, with the video becoming an MTV and BET classic, setting a record for 15 consecutive weeks at # 1 at the top rated video outlet The Box. The Akon magic also exploded across Europe with “Lonely” scoring a #1 in the UK, along with his album (as well as territories as diverse as Australia and Japan), with his single “Locked Up”, locking down the Top 5 throughout the world, including France and the UK.
Akon rewarded fans this past November by releasing Trouble: Deluxe Edition, which contained his multi-platinum album Trouble, including a second bonus disc featuring never-before-released remixes. The talented singer/producer has also established himself as an in-demand production and writing wizard, most recently guesting on the much buzzed about appearance of India.Arie’s first ever approved remix collaboration for her 2006 single, “I Am Not My Hair” and rapper Young Jeezy’s hit “Soul Survivor,” which Akon wrote. Other artists who sought after Akon’s magic include Obie Trice, Baby Bash, Jesse McCartney, Brian McKnight and a special 2005 project with The Notorious B.I.G.
The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Vibe, and other top music publications have all raved about Akon’s incredible impact on the music scene (‘Akon is a butter smooth outsider’ praised Spin Magazine), with Akon garnering one of the most loyal fan bases in all of music, selling out shows in the U.S. and abroad, including Denmark, Spain, Germany, France, Japan, and the UK.
The Senegalese born star is also working on a movie project loosely based on his own inspirational story, mirroring his rise from a troubled youth to a world-wide superstar.

LONDON, September 6/PRNewswire/ --
- "The Greatest B-Boy Battle - The Ultimate Stage"
- PlayStation(R)
From inception to inspiration...
In 1996 a small underground hip-hop event was launched at London's Shepherds Bush Empire. Its aim was to put a much needed spotlight on the effect and reach of b-boy culture by showing the art of battle between b-boy crews. With a rare UK appearance from b-boy icon Crazy Legs promised and live performances by the UK's very own London Posse and one of Philly's finest, Schoolly D, a crowd of hip-hop heads and old skoolers packed the venue to witness the birth of the U.K B-Boy Championships and a ever developing relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment. The vibe, combined with the genuine emotion of the almost forgotten heroes of the scene and the amazing spectacle, set in motion a tidal wave of breakin' fever and b-boying's second coming!
The PlayStation U.K B-Boy Championships has established itself as one of the worlds greatest Hip-Hop events, with national qualifiers in Japan, Korea, USA & Europe. The Championships features the best Solo Breakers, Poppers, Lockers and the greatest B-boy Crews from across the world. It also plays host to some of the most exciting Hip-Hop artists to visit the UK. The Championships is easily the most eagerly anticipated event in the Hip-Hop calendar.
And if sponsoring the event itself for the last 11 years wasn't enough, PlayStation's affiliation with the UK B-Boy Championships has finally led to the creation of a new game, B-Boy(TM). Developed by FreeStyleGames, in collaboration with Crazy Legs and DJ Hooch, B-Boy is due for release in September 2006 on PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation 2.
B-Boy the game uses a dynamically controlled fighting system to help you battle the best b-boys on the planet and even features scenes from the UK B-Boy Championships within it. In "B-Boy Life" mode, players build up a crew and battle against real-life superstar b-boys including in-game and real-life host Crazy Legs.
Carl Christopher from PlayStation commented: "Over the many years of sponsorship, we have talked about taking the inspiration from the Championships to create a B-Boy game. Now it's here, we are all excited. This games comes with all the authenticity of b-boy culture, featuring the top b-boys from the around the world, and the dynamic game play we always dreamed of, enjoy!"
Sony Ericsson is also now heavily committed to the Championships after becoming involved last year. The association with the b-boying stems from Sony Ericsson's ability to allow music to be carried anywhere and anytime through the stylish Walkman(R) range of handsets, and the diverse urban culture of the b-boys perfectly encapsulates this distinct approach to music and fashion.
Sony Ericsson is soon to launch/has recently launched the W710i handset, which will feature at the Championships, enabling physical performance to be measured whilst listening to your favourite music on the move, the perfect accessory for budding inner-city sports addicts.
"THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING YOU WILL SEE THIS YEAR"
