HP TV Spot Featuring Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter Debuts During NBA Finals

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 8, 2006 - Cultural icon Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter will be featured in a 60-second TV ad tonight during the NBA Finals as part of HP's "The Computer is Personal Again" marketing campaign.

The spot, which makes its global debut during the June 8 game on ABC (9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT), will focus on the multiple facets of Jay-Z’s professional and personal life that are enhanced by computer technology. These include mixing music and discovering new talent as a record company president and chief executive officer, sharing vacation photos, reviewing the design of new arena plans for Brooklyn, N.Y., planning the itinerary for an upcoming world tour, and reviewing his retirement portfolio.

HP is investing several hundred million dollars in this first-ever global marketing campaign for its Personal Systems Group. Launched in the United States on May 9, the TV and web elements of the campaign feature celebrities, noteworthy business people and other recognizable figures revealing how their PCs are personal to them through the content they keep on their systems.

Jay-Z first became interested in HP computers after seeing the impact they have on students involved in the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund. Jurassic 5 Adds New Tour Dates

Album Feedback in Stores July 25th

LOS ANGELES, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Interscope recording artists Jurassic 5 have added to their already-lengthy nationwide tour with new dates in four major U.S. cities. J5 will perform in Philadelphia with rock group 311 on August 15th at Penn's Landing, in New York City on August 16th at Irving Plaza, in Hartford on August 19th at the Webster Theater, and in Boston's Fleet Center on August 20th at the Download Festival. GoDigital Music Group is set to release new Master P and Lil' Romeo recordings on P2P networks in the monetizable 'Weed' file format. GoDigital is the first label to pursue a wide release of monetizable files across all P2P networks for any major recording artist.

DETROIT - Marquise Porter, a talented rap artist noted for his blend of social consciousness and street appeal plans to take the rap industry by storm again. His third album titled, The Porterhouse is a blend of street laden lyrics combined with catchy hooks that is sure to attract both younger and older hip hop audiences. His third album titled The Porterhouse is scheduled for release July 4, 2006. The first single and video to be released off the third album titled “In Da City” was written by Marquise Porter and produced by the sought after Saint Denson. The song tells a thought-provoking story about the conditions of Detroit from his eyes. Porter is known for his unique style of rap that causes you to relate to his world and also has the ability to transcend the streets with a sound that carries commercial appeal that many can appreciate.

Porter, a Detroit native was signed to Mobb North Records inn December 2004. Known around the Detroit hip-hop scenes as an undeniable talent, Marquise Porter has worked with as well as performed on the same stage with a roster of impressive artists such as MC Breed, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez (TLC), Mocha (from Missy Elliot’s camp), Big Mike (from the Geto Boyz) and T.I. and E-40.

Bolt Media Forms Gorillaz Style Band

Music auditions shift from the garage to the web
 
NEW YORK - June 6, 2006 - Bolt Media http://www.bolt.com/contest/boltband/ today announced it is holding auditions for a new band as user-generated content enters its next phase: creative collaboration. 
 
Each week Bolt will hold auditions for a new member to join the band.  The best and most original compilation will be added to the mix and the new track will then be used for the next round’s instrument. By the end of the competition there will be an original song by band members from around the world – including, drums, bass vocals and guitar - created entirely through online auditions.  
 
“Forming a virtual band online is a natural progression in the user-generated content movement,” said Aaron Cohen, CEO of Bolt Media.  “Today’s Internet users are creating, collecting and consuming content, and online collaboration in music, video and photography will be a big trend in the next year.”
 
Musicians are encouraged to submit as many entries for as many different instruments as they like.   At the end of each week, Bolt’s music gurus as well as the band “Three Days of Grace” will judge each round picking a member for each slot in the band. 

To date, many of the auditions are linking from Bolt to MySpace.com and YouTube.com.  Bolt members create and proliferate content throughout the Internet in order to expose their work to large audiences for feedback.
 
Bolt members will vote on the name of the band once all of the members have been assembled.  The contest runs during the entire month of June and is exclusively sponsored by Wendy’s.
 
To enter, musicians simply visit http://www.bolt.com/contest/boltband/ and record their best drum, guitar, or vocal solo over the track using a multi-track recording program.   For those looking for a new way to record, Bolt recommends checking out  Audacity™ - a simple audio recording and editing freeware for both Mac and PC.
