Atlanta, Georgia - Oct 25, 2006 PR WEB: So So Def recording artist Q Da Kid was shot Monday October 23 at 10:30PM while trying to exit the driveway of a South Atlanta Housing Development. Sources say Q just completed a phone call and began to pull off when an unidentified vehicle circling the parking lot blocked the exit confirming Q's suspicion that he was being targeted. Q put his car in reverse when he noticed a second unidentified vehicle blocking his path. That's when the first suspect jumped out his vehicle with his gun drawn attempting to force Q out of his car. When Q refused to get out of his car the gunman opened fire and Q ducked below his dashboard and pressed down on his accelerator to drive the car forward forcing the gunman to move.
Celebrity Sports Agent Glenn Toby & Founder of The Book Bank Foundation Inc says, "The entire Book Bank Foundation family is Praying for Q Da Kid, we are grateful he was not harmed. He puts his heart into everything he does. With The Book Bank Foundation Q Da Kid has been totally committed to saving youth and bringing light to the many dim areas of our communities. In a tragic way this may allow him to spread a message of non violence by means of example and enforce the importance of education and civic responsibility. This was not an act of choice by Q, it was a bad choice made by someone making a bad choice like so many others in our nation. We are acting to make a change at BBF."
Q Da Kid managed to escape with his life but not without being wounded by one of the bullets. Police say there is evidence of two guns used during this incident. The case is being investigated by the Fulton County Sheriffs Department. Q Da Kid has no comment at this time.
About Q Da Kid
Q Super Skull Brooklyn born and raised, Q Da Kid is not only a Savage by default. Born to Jamaican parents, raised by Brooklyns hood, convicted by the State, and Violated by the Record industry, Q Da Kid was hell to deal with, Lorna Savage. His mothers conflicting description depicts him as a passionate, sensitive, loving, family man, conceited, hot tempered, man of his own way, and Q Da Kids sly smile surely consummates that, no test, no testimony, and this boy has tested me a lot! Some may say Q Da Kid is a live wire waiting to pop. In and out of every precinct in Brooklyn, New York, young K. Savage didnt fit the prototype of the loving family man his mother claims he is. He ran the streets fearlessly, even after his group DA FRANCHISE (Violator The Album V2.0.), was signed to Violator Records. Unhappy with the labels choice to prolong the release of their album, Q Da Kid walked into the Chief Executives office and demanded he be released from his deal. After an unfriendly negotiation, Q Da Kid was free to leave the label, granting Q the option to move forward with his solo career as a rap artist.
Eager to rebuild, Q relocated to Atlanta assuming the role of an unknown unsigned artist. He grinded the mix tape circuit recording records with DJ Clue, K-Slay, Mami Chula, Greg Street and others, building rapports with Dee Jays and a reputation with rap consumers, earning the attention of music mogul Jermaine Dupri. J.D. soon featured Q. on songs with Da Brat (World Premiere) and Q hustled himself onto the Drumline soundtrack (Been Away featuring Jermaine Dupri), but that didnt distract the hot-tempered nature of the future star. Qs loyalties to a friend lead him on a high-speed chase that ended in a wooded area in North Georgia. The local success didnt impress the prosecutor or the judge and Q was forced to detour from freedom, making a brief 2 12 -year pit stop to the state penitentiary after being convicted on one of several charges hed rather not disclose.
Qs conviction didnt discourage the So So Def C.E.O.; J.D. remained a close associate to his future artist and continued to link the determined rapper to other So So Def affiliates. Qs relationship with Jive artist, J-Kwon blossomed and they have now formed a due called the Jacktwinz. Q began recording several mix tapes and DVDs speaking his destiny into existence, and finally in June 2006 Q Da Kid was officially signed to So So Def /Virgin Records. Q Da Kid is now in the studio recording with producers like Ghost (Dilemma), No ID (See You Smile), The Runners (Hustlin), and DJ Khaled (Holla At Me), just to name a few. Q Da Kids nonchalant approach to his craft keeps him grounded, I got signed, I got a job, I got talent, I use it, its something I like to do and hes matured into a more conscious person diverting his aggression into his career and associating himself with positive programs such as the Glenn Toby and the Book Bank Foundation. Q Da Kids focus is to finish his album and skyrocket from the bottom to the top.
