NEW ORLEANS – Hip-Hop World™ LLC, (www.hhworld.com_, a displaced New Orleans company, will use a portion of the proceeds from sales of its Shoeshield™ invention to assist historic St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, which continues to recover from damages sustained in hurricane Katrina.
The Shoeshield™, which is being touted as the newest innovation in Hip-Hop by its inventor and company president, Ferdinand Valteau, is a patented device that allows users to display the Hip-Hop World™ logo on their athletic shoes. The Hip-Hop World™ logo is being put forth as a unifying symbol in Hip-Hop helping to identify diverse areas of music, fashion, sports and culture under one banner.
The device attaches to shoes by placing a shoe’s laces through holes that run along the Shoeshield’s™ outer edges and displays the Hip-Hop World™ logo on top of the shoe over the shoe’s instep area.
St. Augustine High School is nationally known and recognized for its academic reputation having produced more presidential scholars than any other New Orleans Catholic School and has many prominent graduates including Dean P. Baquet the editor of the Los Angeles Times and Victor Goins a jazz saxophonist and Julliard professor.
The school is also widely known for its sports teams having won numerous state titles and band, which is arguably the most popular high school band in New Orleans during the city’s Mardi Gras season. The band, which has appeared in the Rose Bowl Parade and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, suffered heavy losses in Katrina. Its practice room, which included all of the bands uniforms and equipment, was destroyed and will cost $200,000.00 to repair.
St. Aug, as the school is affectionately called, is the only African-American, all male Catholic high school in the city and has a 90 percent college attendance rate by its graduates. Valteau, who is also a graduate of the school, states that, “This is just one way he hopes to give something back to the school and to help it continue on in its storied tradition”.
The Shoeshield can be viewed and purchased on the company’s website www.hhworld.com.
