W.O.E Records hip-hop/rap artist J-ROC brings the heat as his "informances" light up The Boys & Girls Clubs of America. J-ROC pitches his signature "J-ROC's Music Time Tour" direct to the kids and catches new fans.
(PRWEB) July 21, 2006 -- Scorching hot and ready to go, J-ROC started 2006 hard at work with his signature “J-ROC’s Music Time Tour.” Presented by W.O.E Records, J-ROC performs songs from his #1 MP3Tunes.com rap album, "J-ROC This Kid's on FIRE."
J-ROC’s Music Time Tour presents "informances” that offer free information about VH1 Save The Music Foundation. It also includes free giveaways all while giving kids a fun time with a fun J-ROC performance. Local Detroit television station WJBK FOX 2 NEWS featured the Winterhalter school performance back in April 06'.
Before 11 yr old J-ROC could get out of school and enjoy the summer like youngsters look forward to, he had a 1 month tour schedule and already in place. The largest part of his performance dates took place at select Boys & Girls Clubs on the West Coast .
The first seven “informances” in Las Vegas included the famous tennis star Andre Agassi’s club, Donald W. Reynolds, B.C. McCabe, North Las Vegas, Al Snyder, Lied Memorial and Jackie D. Gaughan Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. “I loved signing all the autographs and seeing how happy my peers were to have me there,” stated J-ROC after finishing his last Las Vegas tour stop.
Jason Pacheco, Unit Director of Lied Memorial, the largest Boys & Girls Club in the US said, “J-ROC was awesome. The 400 plus kids in attendance loved the performance. Come back next year.” Mr. Pacheco also let the whole W.O.E Records camp and J-ROC return later that evening to play a few full court basketball games.
The tour then moved on to the Los Angeles area where it enjoyed more successful stops. Challengers Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles on Vermont was on the itinerary but with the sudden passing of its founder Lou Dantzler, the tour had to bypass it for the moment while they paid their respects. Challengers Unit Director Nate Wilson gave W.O.E Records camp a tour of the club and put J-ROC This Kid’s on FIRE cd in rotation on their local access FM radio station 94.7. “I turned on the radio and heard J-ROC’s track “Rappin and Hoopin” instantly. The kid’s were dancing to it on the playground. It was a great feeling,” as W.O.E Records producer Y.V. continued listening.
The first California show then became the Pasadena club on Del Mar with Unit Direct Mr. Minn who was very accommodating and wanted to help in any way he could. Mr. Minn commented, "I've got to contact The Boys & Girls Club National Headquarters to let them know what a great thing you guys are doing!"
Next stop, the West Valley Boys & Girls Club in Canoga Park. This show was initiated by Program Director Reuben Rodriguez and who’s Executive Director, Kelsey Maruyama presented J-ROC with one of their club T-Shirts. Also, the Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club with Main Branch Director Tammy Ito who surprised J-ROC with the large attendance, great food and fun atmosphere. Wacky Wayne, a W.O.E Records rap artist and engineer performed alongside J-ROC commented, “Every stop was equal in excitement and enjoyment.”
J-ROC’s last California stop was in San Diego at the new Linda Vista Teen Center Boys and Girls Club. Although they encountered unexpected bumper to bumper traffic all the way down, the welcome J-ROC received upon arriving is a moment he will never forget. “They had signs on themselves that I was performing on that day. Kids were waiting outside for me. You could here them saying, “J-ROC is here!” and they had posters everywhere. It was one of the best welcomes I’ve ever had,” notes J-ROC as he smiles.
The Linda Vista Teen Center of San Diego is located at 2230 E. Jewett Street and offers performing arts lessons such as dance or dj. Mr. Sammuli gave the W.O.E Records camp a tour of his facility which also featured a state of the art recording studio. “Performances like “J-ROC’s Music Time Tour” assist our club. With a low membership fee of $10 per year, it brings out the neighborhood to see the great value in attending our Boys & Girls Club,” Site Supervisor - Mr. Philip Sammuli said after J-ROC’s performance. Mr. Sammuli then presented J-ROC with their street smart program “SMART MOVES” t-shirt as they took a picture together. One club kid member named Joe said, "I just can't get J-ROC's songs out of my head."
Prior to starting his signature tour, J-ROC received the opportunity to perform at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios and the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. J-ROC was the opening act for mainstream artist Dem Franchise Boys, T-Pain, Ray-J and Trey Songz for their College Send Off Tour. J-ROC recalled, “When I stepped on stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre, I could hear girls screaming that’s him. That’s J-ROC. I saw him on MySpace.”
The Orleans Arena was well equipped were you could see J-ROC afar on the huge video screens. With only a few minutes on stage, J-ROC and his brothers Wacky Wayne and Uh-HUH aka Frost Freezy quickly gave the audience a performance they will always remember. “During the last 15 seconds of J-ROC performing his track “Throw It Up”, the cd skipped. Their player was having technical problems during sound check. We had one of our guys monitor the cd for any glitches. But proving to be a professional, J-ROC finished out his song rapping it acappela. No one noticed that something went wrong. It was actually perfect.” said W.O.E Records President and CEO Mr. Dwayne Thomas.
The last stop of the tour was in Canton, OH where J-ROC performed at The 2nd Annual O’Jays Homecoming and Family Reunion Weekend Event. There were a lot of celebrities in attendance such as Eddie LeVert, Macy Gray, Evander Holyfield and former NBA player Charles Oakley who stepped out of the VIP tent to watch J-ROC perform.
The W.O.E Records crew and J-ROC will take a 2-week break to rest up before they hit the road again down south. Their planning to bring this hot event to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Miami, Atlanta and any other club that would love to have them there. One thing is for sure, J-ROC's fire is moving quick and W.O.E Records is lighting up his path.
